Git, on the other hand, records the entire contents of each file in every commit. For example, a SVN commit consists of a diff compared to the original file added to the repository. Whereas SVN tracks differences of a file, Git’s version control model is based on snapshots. Snapshots, not differencesĪside from the practical distinctions between SVN and Git, their underlying implementation also follows entirely divergent design philosophies. For more information regarding best practices for Git team collaboration read how teams structure their Git workflow. While isolation and deferred integration are individually beneficial, it is in a team's best interest to integrate frequently and in small units. It also lets developers work in an isolated environment, deferring integration until they’re at a convenient point to merge with other users. This has many advantages over SVN-style collaboration: it makes it easier to split up a feature into atomic commits, keep related commits grouped together, and clean up local history before publishing it to the central repository. Instead of making a change and committing it directly to the central repo, Git developers have the opportunity to accumulate commits in their local repo. This changes the basic development model for Git users. Just as the staging area is a buffer between the working directory and the project history, each developer’s local repository is a buffer between their contributions and the central repository. In contrast, Git doesn’t force you to interact with the central repository until you’re ready. This is fundamentally different from SVN, wherein the working copy is committed to the central repository. Git Snapshots are always committed to the local repository. Commits are created with the git commit command to capture the state of a project at that point in time. Commits can be thought of as snapshots or milestones along the timeline of a Git project. Commits are the core building block units of a Git project timeline. How it worksĪt a high-level, Git can be thought of as a timeline management utility. Git commits can later be pushed to arbitrary remote repositories. In Git, repositories are distributed, Snapshots are committed to the local repository, and this requires absolutely no interaction with other Git repositories. In SVN, a commit pushes changes from the local SVN client, to a remote centralized shared SVN repository. To compare git commit vs svn commit is to compare a centralized application model (svn) vs a distributed application model (Git). This shared term can be a point of confusion for Git newcomers who have a svn background, and it is important to emphasize the difference. While they share the same name, git commit is nothing like svn commit. These two commands git commit and git add are two of the most frequently used. Prior to the execution of git commit, The git add command is used to promote or 'stage' changes to the project that will be stored in a commit. Committed snapshots can be thought of as “safe” versions of a project-Git will never change them unless you explicitly ask it to. The git commit command captures a snapshot of the project's currently staged changes. Notably, averages that reflect a small number of appointments – for example, in a geographic area where only a few Veterans seek a certain type of subspecialty care in any given month - may show average wait times that are skewed high or low due to the small number. Averages are representative of general performance and may not represent individual experience, but the upgraded calculation makes the website more reflective of the complete process of requesting and receiving care. Rather, the website represents a guide that can assist Veterans in making informed health care decisions.Īverage wait times for all Veterans Health Administration (VHA) medical centers and clinics (except those that have transitioned to VA’s new Electronic Health Record (EHR)) are now calculated to include additional steps in the appointment process that had not been captured in the past. Importantly, average wait times are never used to determine eligibility for community care, and none of the changes on the website affect eligibility for community care. To further improve user experience, VA has also upgraded the way average wait times are calculated and displayed on the website. What has changed on the Access to Care site?.the ability to more easily view relevant medical center information.increased detail on timeliness within health care subspecialties and.In addition to updating the wait time calculations themselves, website updates also provide Veterans with more relevant information to help inform health care decisions, including: While there is no perfect way to measure wait times in aggregate, VA is making changes that represent a meaningful improvement in how the Department presents this information to Veterans. As part of this process, VA conducted focus groups that included a diverse representation of Veterans in categories including age, era, race/ethnicity, utilization type (in-person/telehealth), gender, and geography. Since that time, VA has received feedback from Veterans, caregivers, veterans service organizations, oversight authorities, and Congress, which led the Department to initiate efforts to revise the wait time metrics presented on the Access to Care website to better reflect the Veteran experience when seeking healthcare in the VHA system. VA has published average wait times for primary care, mental health, and specialty care appointments at each of its medical centers since 2014, in accordance with federal law. Providing Veterans with meaningful information to make informed decisions about their health care journeys is a top priority for VA. Gone are the old requirements of a USB key or separate licensing system permanently tethered to your machine. Steinberg Licensing is a new identity-based system that will enable single-user activation on three computers simultaneously, and will be managed by the user’s Steinberg ID account. Of course, any software is only useful if you can actually, uh, use it, and to that end, Dorico 4 is the first version of Dorico - and the first of any of Steinberg’s products - to make use of a new licensing system. Steinberg is marketing Dorico 4 as “supercharging your workflow”, and more new features and improvements along those lines appear, many of which compare favorably to competing software: instrument filters (“Staff Sets” to Finale users), a “jump bar” (“Command Search” to Sibelius users), the ability to move bars to the next or previous system during the casting off process (à la Finale), and musical transformations (like with some Sibelius plug-ins) are a tiny representative sample of the huge number of items that both existing and new Dorico users will be delighted to find. This is the entry point into the long-wished for Library Manager, which finally makes it possible to have a “house style” system in Dorico that can be both all-encompassing or highly granular, allowing the user to compare settings between documents, mix-and-match styles, and save them all into templates for repeated use. This makes it much quicker to get from mockup to finished score.įor the pure “engravers” who never use audio or MIDI, Dorico 4 is a giant leap forward with the introduction of the Library menu, which consolidates many disparate options across all modes of the program into a single menu for easy access. The relationship between audio and notation is further solidified in Dorico 4 by powerful importing features that intelligently map MIDI files into Dorico, identifying tracks, split points, and keyswitches, and making sensible notation-based choices for instrument assignments, articulations, and playing techniques, and storing those preferences for future use. iPad users will recognize this, too, but the changes go Play mode beyond the superficial it’s been totally rebuilt for Dorico 4, making pro-level audio adjustments easier and more discoverable. In concert with the related Write mode features, Play mode gets a complete overhaul, which not only allows for these tools to be used in Play mode but also sporting a total redesign. The histogram and mixer, along with other tools, make what is now called the “lower zone” into the go-to-place for all kinds of score editing. IPad users will also recognize the other note input tools brought over to the desktop and dropped straight into Write mode, such as on-screen instruments like a piano keyboard, a guitar fretboard, and a drum controller grid that can be used for unpitched percussion. Users of the tablet version will feel instantly comfortable with Dorico 4, which integrates the Key Editor, a piano roll-style view of the score, directly into Write mode, along with velocity and MIDI controller editors. New in Dorico 4 are some features that had already been introduced in Dorico for iPad, which we first saw in July 2021 and which was followed quickly by an August update. With a version history document running in excess of 37,000 words and 100 pages long, this highly anticipated release is the program’s largest since the introduction of Dorico more than five years ago, the first paid upgrade since Dorico 3.5 came out in May 2020, and the first update of any sort to the desktop version since a minor update in February 2021. Today Steinberg has released Dorico 4, a major upgrade to its scoring program. There are three crosshair designs that I consider most effective in Valorant: the cross, the circle, and the dot.īelow I’ve pictured all three and provided a second image that shows the settings to achieve each. I also recommend turning the opacity right up so that whichever color you settle on sticks out as much as possible. Whether or not you turn off firing error is up to you newcomers might find it easier to learn how recoil works in the game by keeping it on, while veterans should already know how to control spray and turn it off. What you will end up with is a simple cross-shaped design similar to that found in other tactical shooters. I recommend removing the central dot and turning off the outline. It’s very busy.ĭo yourself a favor and make whatever crosshair you settle on simpler. The default crosshair in Valorant has a central dot, both inner and outer lines, a black outline, and firing error turned on. As we will show, this approach again yields high accuracy. The learned models from each study area are then transferred to classify building types in alternative study areas. Upon comparing to ground truth testing data, we show that our learned models yield high accuracy in all three locations. Next, based on existing and newly derived building footprint attributes, a set of models are trained to classify the building type using ground truth data obtained from official sources from each study area. Our choice of location has been dictated by available ground truth data and to provide a mix of urban, sub urban and rural areas. This particular semantic information is of limited availability at the building footprint level in, both, OSM and official datasets across the United States (US) and globally.įirst, we use existing high quality data available through OSM to derive geometric attributes for each building footprint (e.g., area, distance to roads, distance to parking lots, underlying land use) as well as available descriptive attributes in three study areas in the US, as follows: Fairfax County in Virginia, Mecklenburg County in North Carolina, and the City of Boulder in Colorado. We present a basic demonstration of this approach to classify OSM building footprints by their type as either residential or non-residential. Therefore, this study proposes a supervised learning approach to add meaningful, semantic information to OSM data without manual intervention. The incomplete nature of the attribute data is a shortcoming that limits the usefulness of OSM data. However, for the vast majority of buildings, building type information is unknown or unclear. We observe that in most of the cases where OSM building type information is available, it is correct. Thus, despite the lack of completeness in building type information, the number of misclassified buildings is less than 1%.įigure 1 further illustrates this by mapping the building footprints in Fairfax County and color coding their accuracy when compared with ground truth data. Note that the total number of labeled buildings and the number of correctly labeled buildings for each type are almost the same. OSM correctly labels 12.84% of residential and 19.26% of non-residential buildings for Fairfax County, 9.33% of residential and 10.48% of non-residential buildings for Mecklenburg County, and 67.75% of residential and 42.23% of non-residential buildings for the City of Boulder. To illustrate this, Table 1 compares the number of residential and non-residential buildings in OSM (both the total number and buildings that are correctly classified) with the ground truth data. However, even in the data rich locations, the semantic information that records the type and function of these features is very sparse such that the vast majority of features mapped have little to no descriptive attributes. The OSM and data science community are invited to build upon our approach to further enrich the volunteered geographic information in an automated manner.įor many locations, OSM geometries delineating streets, natural features, and building footprints are highly complete and accurate, often matching or overtaking traditional data sources such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) World Factbook and United States Census Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER)/Line data 9, 10, 11, 12. Additionally, a trained model is transferable with high accuracy to other regions where ground truth data is unavailable. The results show that our approach achieves high accuracy in predicting building types for the selected areas. The model is trained and tested using ground truth data available for the three study areas. The model leverages (i) available OSM tags capturing non-spatial attributes, (ii) geometric and topological properties of the building footprints including adjacent types of roads, proximity to parking lots, and building size. We present a basic demonstration of our approach that classifies buildings into either residential or non-residential types for three study areas: Fairfax County in Virginia (VA), Mecklenburg County in North Carolina (NC), and the City of Boulder in Colorado (CO). To fill this gap, this study proposes a supervised learning-based approach to provide meaningful, semantic information for OSM data without manual intervention. While volunteered geographic information from sources such as OpenStreetMap (OSM) has good building geometry coverage, descriptive attributes such as the type of a building are sparse. Having accurate building information is paramount for a plethora of applications, including humanitarian efforts, city planning, scientific studies, and navigation systems. Keeping your plants in an environment that is stable in the 15-40 degrees C range is going to help with an increased yield and healthier plants. Although even the east coast US is starting to get super warm summer days, so it’s good to keep in mind. While this isn’t going to be relevant in all parts of the world, in places with super hot summers like Arizona and Australia, this is something you’ll need to keep an eye on. Anything above those temperatures causes proteins to get destroyed and can cause deformed membranes. Photosynthesis peaks out around 35-40 degrees Celsius (95-104 degrees Fahrenheit). Yep, not only does excess heat cause plants and vegetables to wilt and dry out, but they can actually harm the structure of its cells and cause permanent damage. There are a number of benefits to using shade cloth to provide protection for your plants. Shade cloth can also be used over top of a greenhouse in the height of summer to reduce the need for more complex ventilation systems. Shade fabric can help filter light but doesn’t block it so you can rest assured your plants are getting enough sunlight. These can be used in all kinds of environments: You can use shade cloth to protect your vegetable garden, fruit trees, and more. Leaves will get bigger, stems get thicker, and you’ll usually see more plant growth with this color during this stage. Red shade cloth is great for the flowering stage, as it will promote early blooming. If you know about grow lights, you might know a bit more about the colors of shade cloth and what they are best used for. These different colors include blue, green, black, white, and red. Shade cloth also comes in a variety of colors aside from black. Each has its pros and cons, but here is a quick snapshot of the two. The two most common varieties of shade cloth are knitted and woven. Here are some example densities to use during a hot summer: Plant Type If you get 50% shade cloth, it will block out 50% of sunlight. Shade cloth will block out that percentage of sunlight to protect your plants. The difference in percentages is how much light is allowed to penetrate. Shade cloth comes in varying degrees of shade densities, ranging from 5-95%. Shade cloth does allow for water to pass through. Shade cloths block a certain amount of direct sunlight and allow cool air to This is critical for some gardeners who live in deserts and warm climates with brutal summer heat. Shade cloth is a type of fabric that does what it sounds like – it provides shade. That’s exactly what shade cloth is great for. During the height of summer, it can be hard to keep your plants from being stressed out by the heat. |
